Rescuing a crew member from a downed F-15E Strike Eagle in Iran reportedly cost the US nearly $500 million, NDTV World reported. It included aircraft losses as two C-130 planes worth over $100 million each were destroyed to prevent capture. Two helicopters, valued at about $7.5 million each, were also scuttled during the operation.
