How people use music shapes their emotional experiences: Study

A University of Jyväskylä study suggested that ways people use music influenced whether they experienced mixed emotions. Songs used to evoke emotions and express personal identity were more likely to elicit mixed emotions, while music used for emotional regulation and distraction tended to elicit fewer mixed emotions. It also found mixed emotions were more frequent among younger people.
