As per reports, Kerala has recorded three deaths in August from amoebic meningoencephalitis caused by the “brain‑eating amoeba” which enters through the nose via untreated water. The state is urging people to avoid swimming or bathing in stagnant or unchlorinated water, keep their head above water, use nose clips, and ensure proper chlorination of wells and tanks.
