How the slope at Lord's affects batting and bowling

Running from the Grandstand side to the Tavern side at Lord's, the slope of the playing surface is such that the height difference is eight feet and two inches. The effect is that there is always something for the bowlers in the wicket as the ball moves laterally, and batters are often more circumspect about their off stump.
