A sign to identify fake-banking app is to check publisher's name on Play Store or App Store. Genuine banking apps are published in bank's own name, like "HDFC Bank Ltd". Another way is to check download numbers as real apps would have millions of downloads, Moneycontrol report says. The bank won't ask to install its app from SMS or WhatsApp.
