The Centre intends to fit vehicles with a dedicated hardware module that enables short-range communication with nearby traffic, sharing key driving information like vehicle position, movement direction, speed changes and braking activity. When the device detects a potentially risky situation, it generates an alert for the driver. The aim is to alert the driver instead of overriding their control.
