How will fixed deposits get affected by RBI's repo rate cut?

RBI has cut the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.25%. With this reduction, banks and small finance banks are expected to trim FD rates, Moneycontrol reported. Existing FDs remain unaffected, but new investors may get lower maturity amounts if banks reduce their rates. "Savers and retirees should consider locking into longer tenures now," said Adhil Shetty, CEO, BankBazaar.
