The HPCL Rajasthan Refinery project, a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Rajasthan government, will be fully functional by 2024, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri said. The refinery will employ 35,000 workers while generating 1 lakh direct and indirect jobs, he added. Puri mentioned that the project will reduce India's import expense by ₹26,000 crore.
