HPV‑16 raises risk of throat and oral cancers: Expert

Certain high-risk strains of HPV, especially HPV‑16, don’t just cause cervical cancer; they are also linked to a higher risk of throat and oral cancers, explains health expert Dr Neha. Persistent infection can damage cells in the mouth or oropharynx over years and is not rare. Vaccination and safer practices help lower this risk.
