HSBC appoints Georges Elhedery as CFO after quarterly result

HSBC has appointed Georges Elhedery, a former head of its investment bank, as its new Chief Financial Officer, replacing Ewen Stevenson. Elhedery could eventually succeed Chief Executive Noel Quinn. The change comes after HSBC's profit fell by 42% in the third quarter. Elhedery had taken a six-month sabbatical in January and returned to the London-headquartered bank in September.
