Hukitola: 157-year-old Bay of Bengal site now an ecotourism hub

Hukitola, a 157-year-old structure in Jambu island in the Bay of Bengal, was used to store rice imported from Burma (now Myanmar). The British built it using stones from the ruins of Barabati Fort in Cuttack. An intricate and advanced rainwater harvesting system allowed the workers to survive amid the sea. Hukitola is now an ecotourism site, accessible by boat.
