Humans performed brain surgery on cow 5,000 years ago: Study

French archaeologists have uncovered a 5,000-year-old cow skull, claiming it as the earliest evidence of surgical experimentation on an animal. The team based their claims on finding similar holes in two human skulls in France from the same period. They were however unsure whether the surgery was performed to practise before being done on humans or save the cow's life.
