J&K Police on Friday stopped All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from leaving his residence to offer prayers at Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta. The police said Farooq would have to give in writing that the public would not create a law-and-order situation at the Masjid. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha earlier said that Farooq was not under house arrest.
