While directing a man to pay ₹25 lakh to a woman in return for her lost gold, the Supreme Court reiterated that 'Streedhan' is an "absolute property" of a wife. It added a husband has no control over his wife's 'Streedhan' and while he may use it during time of distress, he has moral obligation to return it to wife.
