Hyundai and Kia Motors have agreed to $140 million and $70 million civil penalties, respectively, after US auto safety regulators said they delayed recall of 1.6 million vehicles for engine issues. The settlement covers recall in 2015 and 2017 for manufacturing issues. Kia denied the allegations but agreed to settle the matter to "avoid a protracted dispute with the government".
