Fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya said he was "naturally disappointed" at the Supreme Court verdict sentencing him to four months in jail in a 2017 contempt of court case. Mallya was convicted of contempt in 2017 for transferring $40 million to his children in violation of court orders. The apex court also imposed a fine of ₹2,000 on him.
