Ex-East Zone selector Syed Kirmani has revealed that he recommended MS Dhoni's selection in East Zone without even seeing him keep wickets. He added that he and his co-selector Pranab Roy were watching a Ranji Trophy match in which Dhoni wasn't keeping. Kirmani said he saw Dhoni's statistics and recommended his selection due to "terrific consistency" in his batting ability.
