IAF pilot shot superior Pak F-104 in 1965 war in Sargodha, which India hit on May 9-10

Maha Vir Chakra-awardee IAF's Squadron Leader AB Devayya was killed in action following a legendary dogfight with Pakistan's Flight Lieutenant Amjad Hussain during 1965 Indo-Pak War. He'd bombed Sargodha airbase, which India bombed on May 9-10 under Operation Sindoor too, in response to Pakistan striking Indian bases. India was unaware of Devayya's heroic feat and considered him 'missing'.
