Smartphone makers' body urges GST cut on phones from 18% to 5%

India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) has written to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman seeking GST on mobile phones to be reduced from 18% to 5%. ICEA cited a 35-45% rise in entry-level handset prices, four-fold surge in memory costs, and shrinking sub-₹10,000 segment to under 5% of supply as key concerns.
