Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma called the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam a targeted hate crime. "For the first time, terrorists carried out a massacre after asking people their religion...If you are a Hindu, they kill you. If you belong to any other religion, they spare you," he added. At least 26 people were killed in the attack.
