The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday passed the IIM (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which was passed by the Lok Sabha on August 4. It proposes to appoint the President as the visitor to all the IIMs, with powers to audit their functioning, order investigations and appoint and remove Directors. It also proposes to designate all the IIMs as 'Institutions of National Importance'.
