IIT Delhi researchers, led by Prof Javed Nabibaksha Sheikh, have developed mosquito-repellent detergents in powder and liquid forms. Using the "hand-in-cage" test, fabrics washed with these detergents showed a sharp reduction in mosquito landings. The active components bind to fibers, making textiles unattractive to mosquitoes and helping prevent bites.
