IIT Guwahati has developed an affordable water treatment system that removes 94% iron and 89% fluoride from groundwater. The unit treats 20,000 litres daily and costs only ₹20 per 1,000 litres. Successfully tested in Assam, it uses a four-stage process and aims to improve access to clean drinking water in rural and fluoride-affected regions.
