Researchers at IIT Guwahati have developed a low-cost technique to detect SARS-CoV-2 using sedimentation of a clay-virus-electrolyte mix. Published in journal 'Applied Clay Science,' the method is faster and simpler than Polymerase Chain Reaction(PCR). It was co-authored by Prof. T V Bharat, Prof. Sachin Kumar, and their team, with potential applications in virus detection during outbreaks.
