IIT Madras develops smart wings to make planes safer, more efficient

IIT Madras researchers have developed a "morphing skin" for aircraft wings that changes shape during flight, inspired by birds. The technology could help prevent aerodynamic stalls, improve lift and reduce drag, making flights more fuel-efficient during critical phases such as takeoff and landing. The system can also be fitted to existing aircraft.
