Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras is the first IIT to introduce a sports quota for its undergraduate admission. It will create two supernumerary seats in each course from the 2024-25 academic session for Indian nationals under the Sports Excellence Admission (SEA) programme, according to its director V Kamakoti. The idea was mooted before the IIT Council last year.
