IIT Mandi develops sea urchin-style protective coating for implants

IIT Mandi researchers have developed a sea urchin-style coating to protect 3D-printed bone implants from bacteria and help it bond with bones. The coating undergoes treatment which provides a bone-compatible mineral surface resembling the surface of a sea urchin. It also creates physical features that can damage bacteria which often lead to failure of the implant bonding with the bone.
