More and more IIT graduates are opting for non-engineering careers, IIT Madras director V Kamakoti has said, adding, "I'm deeply concerned about the current situation...It's a waste of resources." He added, "With India's increasing number of infrastructure and aviation projects, I worry about the availability of civil and aerospace engineers." Higher pay is one reason for this trend, he said.
