India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted extremely heavy rainfall in Pune city and neighbouring areas for the next 24 hours till Thursday. "City witnessing heavy rainfall due to strong westerly winds and an offshore trough between the southern coast of Gujarat and the northern coast of Konkan," it added. "Packed isobars still persisting over the Arabian Sea," IMD stated.
