In a first-ever move, NCERT has added a section on the 1975-1977 Emergency to the Class 9 Social Science textbook. "During this period, a majority of fundamental rights were suspended, the press was censored, and numerous political leaders and activists were arrested," a part of the section states. This comes 51 years after the declaration of Emergency in 1975.
