The 2016 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony kicked off at the Maracanã stadium in Rio on Saturday, celebrating Brazil's history, culture and natural beauty. The Games will feature over 11,000 participants from 207 teams for a total of 306 events. It also saw the first-ever Olympic team of refugees and former Brazilian long-distance marathoner Vanderlei de Lima light the Olympic cauldron.
