Indermit Gill becomes 2nd Indian to be appointed as World Bank's Chief Economist
The World Bank has appointed Indermit Gill as the Chief Economist and Senior Vice President for Development Economics. Gill will be the second Indian after Kaushik Basu to serve as Chief Economist at the World Bank. Basu held the position between 2012 and 2016. Reacting to it, Gill tweeted, "I’m honoured by the opportunity".
