Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said that India added around 45 gigawatts (GW) of solar capacity in FY26, recording the highest-ever annual addition. The ministry added that India installed 6.65 GW of solar capacity in March, the highest-ever in a single month. India surpassed Brazil to rank third globally in renewable energy installed capacity, as per Renewable Energy Statistics 2026.
