India is ranked among the top three targets for ransomware attacks in the Asia-Pacific, trailing behind Taiwan and Singapore, a report stated. India reported 21 such attacks in 2025, and these attacks mostly affected the information technology, banking, financial services, insurance, and manufacturing sectors. Earlier, IBM reported that average cost of data breach in India stands at ₹22 crore.
