India appeals against WTO panel ruling on sugar export subsidies: Official

India has appealed against the ruling of World Trade Organisation's (WTO) trade dispute settlement panel which said that India's support measures for sugar and sugarcane are inconsistent with global trade norms, an official said. On December 14, 2021, the panel recommended India to withdraw alleged prohibited subsidies within 120 days. India stated that the findings are completely "unacceptable".
