India's auto retail sales hit a record 2.96 crore units in FY26, growing 13.3% YoY, nearing the 3-crore milestone, FADA said. Growth was broad-based, with strong demand across segments, especially two-wheelers, PVs, tractors and CVs. Improved affordability, rural recovery, and GST changes drove momentum, while construction equipment was the only segment to decline.
