India bonds' global index entry delayed over operational issues

Bloomberg's decision to defer Indian government bonds from its flagship global index has delayed an estimated $20-25 billion in potential inflows. Mutual fund manager Umesh Sharma said the decision was driven by operational issues, including foreign investor registration, settlement and tax repatriation. He expects another review in November, with index-linked inflows likely next year.
