India emerges as world's biggest plastic polluter

A new study by the University of Leeds, published in Nature Journal, revealed India as the biggest contributor to plastic pollution as the country releases 9.3 million tonnes of such waste into the environment each year. It is followed by Nigeria and Indonesia. China, previously reported to be the worst, is now ranked fourth, with 2.8 million tonnes of waste.
