India has second highest number of women smokers

Though smoking prevalence among men had come down from 33.8% in 1980 to 23% in 2012, the prevalence among women is roughly static at 3.2%. When translated into numbers, India is home to more than 1.2 crore of women smokers, second only to US. These facts were revealed in a study done by the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation.
