The English version of the Constitution of India is the world's longest written constitution for any independent country. The original text of the Indian constitution contained 395 articles in 22 parts and eight schedules. It was adopted by the Constituent Assembly, chaired by Dr B R Ambedkar, on November 26, 1949 and came into force on January 26, 1950.
