RBI's ex-Governor C Rangarajan said India becoming the fifth largest economy in the world is an "impressive achievement" but its per capita income must increase. "In 2020, India's rank with respect to per capita income was 142 out of 197 countries," he stated. "We've no choice but to grow fast, given the present level of per capita income," he added.
