India, with a world share of 8% is the third largest consumer of diamonds behind US (42%) and China (16%), according to Diamond Insight Report by De Beers. The diamond market in India has tripled over the last ten years to Rs 22,000 crore. The report also claimed that in India, women are the main decision makers for buying diamonds.
