India is creating jobs, but mostly at the extremes

An Ashoka University study found India added about 10 crore workers since 2018, but much of the growth came from agriculture and low-skilled jobs. High-skilled roles also expanded, while medium-skilled occupations lagged and some saw real wages fall. The authors warn this job polarisation could deepen as AI reshapes work.
