China, on Monday, fell short of backing India for permanent membership of the UN Security Council (UNSC) despite supporting India’s aspiration of playing a big role in the international institution. The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hong Lei clearly expressed that China would support India for a permanent slot only after a collective consensus with other nations regarding UNSC reforms.
