In a historic first, India launched a direct commercial container freight train to Nepal. The train, comprising 40 wagons, carried a consignment of canola. This enables direct rail movement of cargo from Kolkata to Biratnagar without transhipment at the border. "[It'll] significantly reduce transit time, logistics costs...while improving trade efficiency," Northeast Frontier Railway said.
