The Finance Ministry has exempted customs duty on multiple critical petrochemicals till June 30 as oil movement through Strait of Hormuz remains constricted. The exemption will reduce cost pressures on downstream industries manufacturing products like condoms, medicines, packaging, car dashboards, paints and even polyester fabric. The exempted petrochemicals include methanol, phenol, and polyols.
