The India Meteorological Department has predicted that monsoon rainfall over the country is likely to be 90% long period average (LPA) this year as India is likely to witness above-normal heatwave days. The new prediction is even lower than 92% LPA that IMD had forecast in April. There is a 60% chance of deficient rainfall from June to Septemember.
