India lose to Belgium in penalty shootout, finish 8th at Men's Hockey WC

India finished eighth at the 16-team Men's Hockey World Cup 2026 after losing 3-4 to Belgium in a penalty shootout following a 3-3 draw in regulation time in the 7th/8th place match on Friday. Belgium led 3-2 until the final minute, when India earned a penalty corner with 26 seconds left. Captain Harmanpreet Singh converted it to force a shootout.
