India may let US, other foreign companies bid for govt contracts

India will open its protected government procurement market to foreign firms on a reciprocal basis, including the US, Reuters reported on Friday. The Indian government will likely allow US firms to bid for contracts worth over $50 billion, mostly from government entities. The report comes after the India-UK free trade pact, which gives British firms access to government contracts.
