India may push coal use to meet summer demand amid LNG supply fears

India may rely more on coal to meet peak summer power demand as LNG supplies face shipping disruptions linked to escalating Middle East tensions, Reuters reported citing industry officials. So far the government has received no bids from power companies to supply 12,000 MW of gas-based power ⁠for the summer months. Notably, India has about 20-GW of gas-based generation capacity.
